Under 16 Girls – Birchmount Stadium, Scarborough
Pickering Power Green 2 – 0 Burlington Heat
The Under 16 divisions had a little more on the line with their semi-finals than the other divisions. This was because the two teams that advance to the Ontario Cup Finals will have a spot in the BMO National Championships hosted in Vaughan from October 6 – 11, 2010. Ontario is sending two teams because of the participation of the Yukon in the Nationals. Yukon’s participation means that Ontario is afforded the opportunity to send two teams instead of one to the Nationals, rounding out the number of teams to 12 instead of only 11. This meant that whoever was to win the semi-final of each game are to advance not only to the Ontario Cup Finals, but to Nationals as well.
The first of the Under 16 Girls semi-finals saw a competitive game between the Pickering Power Green and the Burlington Heat. Both teams came ready to play, with their eyes set on making it to the Ontario Cup Finals, and ultimately, the Nationals.
Pickering seized their opportunity early in the game, as #16 Danielle Rotheram scored Pickering’s first goal. Burlington pressed for a goal, but came up empty handed, as Pickering’s #7 Nichelle Prince scored Pickering’s second goal of the game. North London maintained a strong offense throughout the duration of the game.
One might even say that Newmarket’s lone goal was a “valiant” effort, scored by #13 Samantha Valliant . Unfortunately, it would not be enough, as North London ceased the victory, and the place in the Ontario Cup Finals and BMO National Championships.

In the 75th minute of the game, a hand ball in the box for Woodbridge gave Dixie a Penalty Shot. Dixie’s #15 Kyle Walton buried the penalty kick, cutting the Woodbridge lead to two.
